What causes psoriasis?

This process takes around a month time but in case of psoriasis, skin cells mature and move to the surface in just 3 to 4 days. These cells do not shed and instead pile up on the skin, forming the red itchy scales. Experts also say that in one-third of the cases it can be a genetic condition also. There can be various triggers for psoriasis like emotional stress, skin injury, infection, or some medical reaction.

Red Patches or Scaly Skin
There can be large and painful red patches on the skin. Sometimes there are whitish silver scales that might bleed when scraped. At times, these look like pimples or even dark-colored areas that look like a burnt skin patch. There are sometimes skin buildups, commonly found on the back, elbows, knees, or scalp. Tender, Blistered Skin
People with psoriasis notice their epidermis becoming more red and tender and eventually blistered. These blisters may be filled with pus.
Inflamed Folds of the Skin
Inflammation may be seen in delicate areas of the body like the armpits, breasts, and groin region. There might not be any scaling of skin but it is the most difficult one to treat due to the sensitivity of the area as rubbing or sweating irritates the area.
